Bunion Derby Series
JOE: UPDATE CONTENT, DESIGN BACKGROUND, DO META CONTENT. The Snowball Series and the Bunion Derby Series form the backbone of DC Road Runners intraclub competition. These races series also fulfill the club’s mission to promote the sport of running within the local community.
DCRR members and non-members alike are invited to participate in Snowball Series events.
Club Challenge 10 Miler Credit
The RRCA Club Challenge 10 Miler is scheduled for February 22, 2026. This race is part of the Snowball Series.
In order to earn series credit, DCRR members must register and run as official members of the club’s team. If you are not registered as a DCRR team member, and you participate in the Club Challenge, you will not earn Snowball Series credit for this race.
Registration for the Club Challenge 10 Miler closes at 11:59 p.m. on February 12. Registration for this event is managed by Howard County Striders, not DC Road Runners. Please adhere to the deadlines as established by Howard County Striders.
Volunteer Credit
The date range for earning out-of-series volunteer credit for other club race support is October 1, 2025-March 31, 2026. Volunteer support for the Alexandria Turkey Trot and the Club Challenge 10 Miler qualify for credit. Contact the DCRR Volunteer Coordinator with any questions about volunteer credit.
Weather Policy
Safety is DC Road Runners’ number one priority.
In the event of threatening weather conditions that could make running unsafe for participants, the club may cancel, delay, suspend, or postpone a race, run, or other event. Similarly, race courses may be modified if weather conditions have the potential to make courses unsafe for participants.
Such threatening weather conditions may include: lightning, heavy rain, wind/tornadoes, extreme heat, ice/snow, or other major weather conditions. Extreme heat is defined as a heat index that meets or exceeds 105 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of the event or run.
In the event of visible lightning or audible thunder, at least 30 minutes must pass before outdoor events commence or resume. It is up to the race director or run leader to determine whether the conditions are threatening and to communicate any decision to alter the event or run.
