Secretary—Bonnie Peruski

Bonnie Peruski currently serves as the Secretary of the DC Road Runners Board of Directors.
Bonnie has been a club member since 2013 when she moved to DC and joined the half marathon training program to train for the DC Rock ‘N Roll Half Marathon. After the race she realized she missed getting up at the crack of dawn every Saturday to run, so she started going to the club’s Saturday Long Run (SLR) and hasn’t looked back.

Running Background
Prior to running her first half marathon, Bonnie did not have any formal running background, though she did grow up loving sports. She played volleyball recreationally through college, and it was her high school volleyball practices where she was first introduced to running. Her coach decided that the team should be able to run 2 miles in under 16 minutes so Bonnie along with the rest of her teammates spent a decent amount of time at the track trying to achieve this.
At first Bonnie was not keen on running, but the more she ran, the more she realized it wasn’t so bad after all. Bonnie ran a couple miles a week through college to stay in shape and relieve stress, but it wasn’t until she joined DC Road Runners when she discovered her true love of running.
Bonnie has been attending DCRR SLR for over ten years and started attending Thursday morning track in 2017 when she moved to Arlington. Since the DC Rock ‘N Half, she has run several half marathons and considers the half her favorite distance to train for and race.
Bonnie has yet to run a marathon, and although she is confident she will one day, she’s first focusing on being able to train hard for her goal of breaking 1:30 in the half and staying injury free.
Extracurricular Activities
Bonnie currently works as a Data Scientist on the Privacy team at a tech company where she applies her love of problem solving and analyzing data.
Outside of running, Bonnie enjoys rooting for Philadelphia sports, doing all kinds of puzzles, and spending time outside with her husband, John, and their dog. She and John recently welcomed their son into the world, and she is looking forward to getting back to running and doing some stroller runs in the future.
